Austria
On 29th of September (10.00-18.00) the national conference of EMN Austria on forecasting future of global migration will take place. The conference organized in partnership with IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC), will provide an overview of existing models, studies and tools to predict different developments in migration, including their underlying assumptions and key results. The conference will further outline how migration predictions can best inform policy and how policy makers can make use of predictive methodologies. By exploring the extent to which predictive methods have been used to inform policy decisions, the conference will contribute to the future of policy relevant migration forecasting, developing synergies between research, policy, and practitioners. Finally, the implications of forecasts and scenarios for national and European policy making will be discussed.
The speakers include international migration researchers, national and European policy makers with experience in developing and applying migration forecasts and scenarios, as well as representatives from policy think tanks.
